Gleb Vyacheslavovich Korablev (September 13, 2001 – October 17, 2019) was a Russian university student. On October 17, Korablev started a livestream on VK, a Russian social media platform, in which he committed suicide by a Saiga-12 shotgun. The livestream, lasting about 2.5 hours, ended shortly after police arrived at Korablev's apartment. The incident garnered significant attention after a shortened version of the livestream had been posted to YouTube by ‘GORE’, a now-terminated channel. The video uploaded to YouTube eventually reached 150,000 views before its deletion 3 days later. A 17-second version of the livestream, titled ‘1444’ to avoid detection and remain obscure, was later spread through TikTok, Twitter, YouTube, and other social media websites.[citation needed]
Before shooting himself in the head, Korablev is heard saying the following:

- Okay, don't remember bad about me. How was it told there?.. Ah, yeah! Nya, goodbye! (gunshot)”
Motive[edit]
While Korablev himself had no definite motive for committing suicide, his fear of dying by his heart disease is said to have caused his suicide.[1] Diagnosed with slow blood flow which was classified as fatal and incurable by his nurse, Korablev eventually committed suicide.
Urban Legend[edit]
Upon the video's release to the public, an urban legend surrounding it began to emerge, implying that the video has been cursed. According to Internet legend, the only way to break the curse was to respond to the video with the date of the suicide. A Reddit user explained that Korablev might have planned it beforehand, allegedly cursing the video. This was mainly covered by Spanish media outlets. The urban legend might have originated in Mexico, despite the video being Russian.[2]
Legacy[edit]
While Korablev's suicide is used to raise awareness of mental health, it has also been used by Internet trolls as bait.[citation needed]
