I believe the second sentence, "It is not definitely known whether the people in this category are actually dead, but for legal purposes their status as dead has been declared," should be removed. It's already established that the category is for "People ... declared dead through legal process in absence of a body," or their Presumption of death.
Otherwise there's very little making this distinct from the overlapping missing persons category. There's at least one notable person known to have died, but that was not the basis of his death certification. Hitler was technically declared dead through an "assumption of death" in 1956, for legal purposes (per Joachimsthaler).
(Also, this argument shouldn't be confused with conspiracy theories stemming from the complications delaying the death certification, e.g. cremation, change of German government & Soviet propaganda.) —UpdateNerd (talk) 07:43, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
