Is this category needed?[edit]

Do we need this category? I mean, isn't any rabbi per definition an exponent of Jewish law? Debresser (talk) 16:03, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. This category is not sustainable because Posek is a religious category that cannot readily be determined by reliable sources. Moreover, it'd be possible to argue that nearly every rabbi serves as a posek on occasion.
In addition, I would add that the category cannot be limited, in the modern period, to Orthodox rabbis, since Conservative Judaism (and arguably Reform) rabbis are also exponents of Jewish law. ProfGray (talk) 03:05, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
