History[edit]

I had previously created Category:Flora of the San Francisco Bay Area, which was deleted, with some argument given that having categories for all the plants of such subregions makes for too many multiple categories for plants like the Coast Redwood. however, my intention in creating the category was to include ONLY those plants whose range was entirely within the 9 county SFBA, which has a strong tradition of identifying local plants, esp. for purposes of habitat preservation. its also a subregion of Jepson. As long as ONLY endemic plants are in this category, i believe its an entirely logical and definable category, which adds to the information available to readers. I will try to track down the approximately 2 dozen plants i had placed in the previous category, and add them to this new one. If i had known about "endemic plant" categories i would have created it as such. the plant categories are not my major focus, so i didnt notice it.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 19:53, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

We also have List of species endemic to Mendocino County, California, which has not been deleted for not following some scientific plan. I really wish whoever had deleted the category i created had at least turned the items into a list like this. now i have to research them again, by going through all the plants of california (easier now that i know about the endemic tree), and find which ones are unique to the bay. I really get upset when valuable information is lost. we should never edit in such a way as to lose information that is not explicitly obvious, and that requires serious work to uncover.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 20:05, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If someone insists on deleting or redirecting this category without discussion, i would ask that they at least give me a half hour to complete my recategorization, so that i can create a list of all the plants, as wiht mendocino county, where i will break it down by county.Mercurywoodrose (talk) 20:33, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
