The article "Defunct newspapers of the United Kingdom" is useful but many additions are required. I limit myself here to unsuccessful attempts to create new London based national dailies since 1945. The list includes The Post (November-December 1988) and Today (1996-1995)but I would at at least two others: a. The Recorder, published only from November 1953 to March 1954.

                         Sources: Time Magazine, (November 9th 1953, April 5th 1954)

b. The New Daily, published for a few months around 1959.

(Uncertain dates. This was a small paper that hoped to gain
support from small businesses and shopkeepers.)
