The list[edit]

Do we really have to have this huge list on the page? The category pretty much sums up which articles we have. And the list is available, quite naturally, at Lute#Lute repertoire (and perhaps it deserves a separate article). Here it only clutters the page and distracts from the list of pages we actually have, which is the primary goal of any category. --Jashiin (talk) 09:10, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Luis de Narváez didnt compose for lute, he composed for vihuela. He should be taken off this list. --Swandog (talk) 22:38, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Music for vihuela is indistinguishable from that of lute, as is NOT seen as a separate entity. So Narvaez shall stay.Galassi (talk) 23:06, 20 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If they are indistinguishable then why not add the other viheula composers (Luis de Milán, Alonso Mudarra, Enríquez de Valderrábano, Diego Pisador, Miguel de Fuenllana, Estevan Daça) and change the title of the page to Composers for lute and viheula --Swandog (talk) 22:03, 21 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
This page is a Wiki category, i.e. like all categories it lists only the articles Wikipedia currently has and/or all the articles that have been tagged accordingly. This is why numerous composers aren't mentioned. You'll find a more complete list at List of composers for lute (which is an article, not a category). As for renaming things to "Composers for lute and vihuela", like Galassi said, there isn't that much of a difference. Besides, if we start distinguishing between these two instruments in categories and lists, we'd have to get at least three lists and three categories for lute, theorbo and vihuela (and probably more!), and confuse the hell out of most readers. --Jashiin (talk) 07:07, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
