This category is for people who were citizens, nationals or subjects of the German Empire, which lasted from 1871-1918, and who during that time could be described as writers. People who were not writers while subject to the German Empire, either because their writing activities were outside that time frame, or because their writing was not while they were subjects of the German Empire, would go in other appropriate categories, although they may also go in other German Empire categories.
