Category:Unparished areas

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This category contains unparished areas in England. Generally both the article and its main category should go in this tree however although many are as a result of former local government districts being abolished, the page for the settlement (or other place they are named) should generally be the title of any unparished area category, for example use Category:Buxton rather than Category:Municipal Borough of Buxton). In some cases (like Ipswich) the entire (current) district is an unparished area but parts of the town are in other districts that are parished (such as Pinewood) they are still treated as an unparished area however in cases (like Cheltenham) where the district contains parished areas (and there is no separate article for the district) they are not included, also cases (like Coventry) where there are unparished, rural areas but currently only 1 article exists for both the settlement and district are not included. Any unparished areas that are missing are noted in the county's category. When new parishes are formed in unparished areas they are still treated as unparished until the Ordnance Survey or Mapit shows the new parishes. Note that (unlike usually Commons) many of the categories (like Reading) will contain pages that are in the settlements but outside the unparished area. Greater London is missing. Oxford is missing because part of the district is parished but there is only 1 article. Cheltenham and Gloucester are missing because part of the districts are parished but there is only 1 article.
