It is my understanding that the Biblical injunction, "an eye for an eye a tooth for a tooth", actually means "the punishment should fit the crime". These figures of speech will get away from us no matter what we do. "No love was lost between them" was written to mean, "all love flowed between them and none was lost". Tom P. O88
