So other sites (autoblog, autoweek) can list links to themselves, and I can't add to the knowledge I have on this show?

North American International Auto Show[edit]

Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, the commercial links/content you added to the page North American International Auto Show were inappropriate, as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and should not be used for advertising or a collection of external links. See the welcome page if you'd like to learn more about contributing to the encyclopedia. Thanks!

Posting links to your own website creates a serious conflict of interest and leads to suspicion of spam. This is especially true when the site being linked has lots of ads on the page as the links you're adding do. Please see WP:Spam and WP:COI. Hatch68 21:46, 20 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The ad thing applies also for Autoweek and they have five of thelinks on the 2007 auto show list.

It's not a competition to see who has the most reference links in articles. Since you claim to have an affiliation with the website you're posting links to, this creates a Conflict of Interest. You stand to make money from people following the links to the page with advertisements on it, so the link would be considered spam in that case. Hatch68 16:45, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Right but someone who edits that page obviously has a hard-on for their content.
