May 2021[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in Complementary and Alternative Medicine. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Guy Macon can I ask why these or any sanctions are being placed on me? The page on sanctions states "The enforcing administrator must provide a notice on the sanctioned editor’s talk page specifying the misconduct for which the sanction has been issued as well as the appeal process." Could you let me know what misconduct I have allegedly committed? The notice claims I've made edits on pages related to the topic --- can you point out a single edit I've made on the topic? I've only participated in discussion on the talk page. Chandra.sarthak (talk) 03:59, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sanctions apply to editor behavior, including behavior on article talk pages. --Hipal (talk) 17:01, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This notice does not mean you are under any kind of sanction at all. Adding this notice to your page is a common thing for some editors to do when they disagree with your edit. Please don't feel intimidated by it, and you are free to delete it from your talk page if you like Morgan Leigh | Talk 11:17, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Chandra.sarthak, be careful whose guidance you follow. Especially when editors don't appear to be assuming good faith in others.
A formal notification of these sanctions is required before they are enforced. If you get one of these notices, it's because an editor feels that there may be a need for such enforcement. It may have nothing to do with your editing beyond your stepping into an ongoing dispute with a comment or edit. --Hipal (talk) 16:42, 25 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
