Question from Ambassadorfallenknight on Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) (21:20, 15 April 2024)[edit]

Show up mentor Turlock California --Ambassadorfallenknight (talk) 21:20, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ambassadorfallenknight: Hi - is there anything I can help you with? AviationFreak💬 21:55, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How do you add short descriptions?[edit]

I was editing the page for Willy Puchner, when I noticed that there is no short description.

How do I add one?

Leuchar55 (talk) 00:33, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Leuchar55: There's a great tool called the Short Description Helper that you can use for this. The page linked there has a lot of info, but the basic idea is that you enable it in your preferences and then can edit/add short descriptions. As an aside, the Willy Puchner does have a short description: "Austrian photographer, artist, painter and author". Let me know if you have any other questions! Question from MikoDT (16:40, 24 April 2024)[edit]

how do I add an image to a table of contents, like List of governors of Nevada? --MikoDT (talk) 16:40, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@MikoDT: I'm not sure exactly what you mean by a Table of Contents - If you're referring to the infobox, you can add an image by adding a filename to the |image= parameter. If you mean something like the images in the long table on the List of governors of Nevada article, you can use [[File:FILENAME]] to add an image to a table (or anywhere else on an article). I'm not super clear on what you're asking, so if you have additional questions just let me know! AviationFreak💬 22:27, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from RajiKL (10:17, 25 April 2024)[edit]

Hello, will appreciate your help.

I tried to edit a page and it got rejected, how can i resubmit a new page for approval? --RajiKL (talk) 10:17, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@RajiKL: The subject of an Articles for Creation draft, like any other Wikipedia article, needs to be notable. In the case of Draft:Panjab Radio, you'll want to take a look at the notability guideline for broadcast media. In this particular case, it seems your subject may be non-notable, and no amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability. AviationFreak💬 13:05, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from RajiKL (13:37, 25 April 2024)[edit]

Hello, I have somehow deleted the Conflict of Interest on my profile and need to add it back on but have no idea how to do it. Please can you help? --RajiKL (talk) 13:37, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Crazy pumpkin 123 (09:53, 13 May 2024)[edit]

I googled who invented the Melbourne Shuffle and it said Maurice Novoa, why? --Crazy pumpkin 123 (talk) 09:53, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Crazy pumpkin 123: I'm not sure - you'd have to ask Google about that. Our article on the Melbourne shuffle doesn't mention Maurice Novoa. AviationFreak💬 11:38, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
see talk page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Melbourne_shuffle very interesting Crazy pumpkin 123 (talk) 12:12, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from A H HASIB REZA ALIFF (02:28, 22 May 2024)[edit]

HOW TO CHANGE MY USERNAME --A H HASIB REZA ALIFF (talk) 02:28, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@A H HASIB REZA ALIFF: See WP:UNC:this section for information on how to change your username. Since your account is fairly new, it may be easier to just create a new account. AviationFreak💬 17:31, 22 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Damian Lew (18:26, 24 May 2024)[edit]

Hello, I made a move request recently and I'm pretty sure it qualifies for approval as there are two users in support of it and non against. The 7-day listing period has elapsed but the request was moved to WP:RMB instead of being resolved. Is there any way I can notify admins of it? --Damian Lew (talk) 18:26, 24 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Damian Lew: As this falls under a few of the contentious topics on Wikipedia, I think it might be prudent to wait a bit more before closing a discussion; if there were, say, 10 unopposed supporting users at this point then I'd be well-convinced of consensus, but at this point there's no rush. In perhaps a few weeks, if the discussion has not been closed, I believe the closure requests page would be the right place to ask. Thanks for your contributions thus far, and thanks for reaching out - article moves and naming conventions aren't my strong suits by any means, but I'm always happy to help! AviationFreak💬 02:04, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I know you're not an expert in this regard, but seeing that this is a time consuming process, is there a way to move an article to a specific title that is currently being used as a redirect without making a request? For obviously less contentious topics. Many thanks Damian Lew (talk) 02:29, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe the most relevant information is in this section; it appears that non-admins have the technical ability "move over a redirect" with only a single line of page history. Anything more than that would seem to require a technical request. In the past, I've effectively "moved" pages that only had me in the edit history by copy-pasting the page's contents over a redirect with nontrivial edit history (and then requesting speedy deletion under criterion G7), but this is probably not best practice, especially if the page to be moved has any substantial editing history.
