It is not a good idea to merge relay logic with ladder logic, since they are two distinct applications of control theory. Ladder logic is used primarily for PLC applications and represents one of four main programming methods for PLC. Ladder logic is restricted to very basic symbology for device representation (i.e. coils and contacts for outputs and inputs). Relay logic is used to graphically represent a control circuit schematic diagram and utilizes a much wider array of symbolic references (i.e. motors, solenoid valves, etc.) Carl142 (talk) 19:40, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to most sources I've seen, e.g. [1][2] [3] ladder logic is an extension of relay logic with some extra stuff that came along after PLCs were invented. Using different symbols for the same notions is not enough to warrant two articles. You haven't presented a source for your claims to the contrary... 86.121.137.150 (talk) 19:03, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Source[edit]

If I were to believe this article's references section, a 2002 book on (mostly solid-state) electronics would spend a significant amount of time detailing relay logic... The book's content is not easily verifiable on Google, but I have reasons to doubt it verifies most of the material here given the focus of the book. Also, I cannot find a 2002 edition in existence, only a 1996 one; the ISBN given in this article also appears invalid. 86.121.137.150 (talk) 19:06, 15 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You would seem to be correct. An online book search shows no end of sources for the 1996 edition of the book. The only other edition that popped up was a 2011 edition, but its ISBN number is actually that of the 1996 edition (different editions have different ISBN numbers). I have deleted the non existent reference. I don't have the 1996 book so I cannot verify that that edition supports the article (I suspect it does but that is insufficient). Anyone with access to a copy can perform the verification and add it as a reference (preferably as in-line references). DieSwartzPunkt (talk) 18:06, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Starter relay where is it at[edit]

Need to know where the starter relay is on a 2012 V star Yamaha V star 1100 2600:1012:B018:4DC6:1806:4948:40FC:C608 (talk) 01:14, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
