Deletion of amply sourced matetial

"Not an improvement" isn't a valid basis for deletin amply sourced material. It's too vague even to address.Mamalujo (talk) 05:09, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Contention that the Nazi party advocated eradication of the churches

The article contains this statement: "Some historians maintain that the eventual goal was an eradication of the churches."

Unless you can cite these 'historians', why make that claim? A number of my relatives lived through Nazi Germany and maintain the exact opposite. Granted, what I tell you here is anecdotal, but so is that statement above. ("Battle of the statements").

My family hails from Hessen, a crossroads of sorts between Catholic southern Germany and Protestant northern Germany. My uncles (now all deceased) told me that, as far as they knew, Hitler was an ardent supporter of a strong church system in Germany because, quite simply, churches kept the populace in line.

Yes, if he had his choice Hitler probably would have supported the Protestants more than the Catholics. But (according to my relatives), it really didn't matter to the Nazis, just as long as it was some Christian church that the common German was an adherent of.

The other powerful motivation for the Nazi party to support organized religion in Germany was that this paradigm was the absolute antithesis of communism. Lenin said that "religion was the opiate of the masses" - that statement alone was enough for Hitler to stridently support organized religion.

Article assessment

A really nice and informative article, but I have re-assessed it as C for now. The original very quick assessment didn't consider the specific B-class criteria, and such a high-importance and complex topic needs a closer look by interested editors and topic experts working on the article. Please re-assess, if all criteria are sufficiently met. GermanJoe (talk) 11:52, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Ludwig Müller (not Muller)

The name was Müller, not Muller! (German umlauts do make a difference to the sound). Norvo (talk) 17:49, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
