Accuracy

1. Origins: John Carr & Co. Pty Ltd appears to be the former name of Electus Distribution Pty Ltd, (ACN: 000 087 347) whereas Jaycar Pty Ltd (ACN: 000 087 936) is a separate entity which was registered in 1950. Was the company originally called "Jaycar" in 1950?
2. Foundation Date: ASIC lists the incorporation date of "John Carr & Co. Pty Ltd" (Now Electus Distribution Pty Ltd)

I can't tell the specifics of the company structure, but it would appear that the two are linked (their administrations are in the same building and they share the same warehouse). The initial conclusion would be that Electus deal with wholesale sales only and Jaycar deal with retail sales only. 3. Number of employees "1300+ (2019)"
4. Suggesting "...over 100 company-owned stores" to differentiate from the stockist store count
5. SKU count is notably substantial. Suggesting "...New Zealand. It carries over 7300 products from its wholesale division Electus Distribution."
6. Article covers product type but no services. Suggesting "Jaycar offers a loyalty club program, a trade card program for tradespeople and a club with benefits for education professionals.
7. While there's a lot of auto products in the range, we're commonly mistaken for an Automotive parts specialty retailer just by name. Is this worth addressing anywhere?

@Emi from Jaycar: It's appreciated that you're trying to get the article updated. Could I suggest that you name the CEO and provide a reference. Also, references for subsidiaries Road Tech and Soanar, and the number of employees would be appreciated. Jaycar links cannot be used as refs. Catalogue

1. This waffle section does not appear to add any value to the article and is confusing at best. Suggest it be rewritten or deleted.

Neutrality

1. Dick Smith Electronics: This article mentions Dick Smith Electronics almost as often as it mentions the word Jaycar, the article should be cleaned up so as it is not so reliant on comparisons to Dick Smith Electronics.
2. Tone of the article: is disproportionately negative. It needs a bit more informational content to balance things out, rather than being a topic that seemingly exists for controversies only. Surely in the 39 or so years Jaycar has been in existence there has been a few happenings that are noteworthy besides the controversies listed?

Puffery

1. Dubious Statement: The last paragraph of the introduction seems dubious as Dick Smith Electronics product range seems to have shifted towards high volume low margin items definitely not "high-profit margin" items as per the statement. This paragraph is puffery and does not appear to add any value to the article, I believe it should be deleted.

Quality

1. Introduction: This section needs to be rewritten to meet Wikipedia's quality standards. More (and understandable) detail regarding the product sold and target customer, a short (and accurate) history would be a start.
2. Grammar: There are also various other mangled sentances which I would suggest have developed over numerous edits, the copy just needs a quick cleanup by someone who understands what these sections were intended to portray.

Is the paragraph beginning with, "In October 2012, Gary Johnston, CEO ..." in the "Controversy" section an accurate and a neutral account of events? It appears Jackman21 has made inaccurate comments about recent events. Gary Johnston is not the CEO of Jaycar, Toni Martin is. Jackman21 references opinionated articles and an out-of-context quote that support his/her argument that Gary Johnston supports sexist behaviour, which is not true. There is no attempt to paint an objective picture, by omission of the full spectrum of opinions out there in the public sphere. In its current form is the paragraph relevant to the article? Citing current discontent (by some) towards Gary Johnston/Jaycar and considering past edits of this article, could this be interpreted as vandalism? 1) CEO vs MD. I have corrected this, it appears to have originated from one of the linked references.

2) WP:NPOV. This would have been the general POV based on representations from the media at the time, however, there has been additional coverage subsequent which probably warrants a rewrite of this section.

3) WP:BLP. This policy exists mostly for privacy reasons and most of its guidelines would not apply to matters like this which were played out in the public mass media.

4) 125.7.82.82 It appears that you are posting from an IP address associated with Jaycar Electronics, you should be open / up-front about this as it could be a potential conflict of interest WP:COI

5) WP:VAND Although there has been some recent vandalism to this article (which was detected and cleaned up very quickly) I don't think this edit by Jackman21 should be considered vandalism. I do, however, agree that the section needs to be cleaned up and will add it to my follow up list.

• The {{request edit}} template needs to be placed at the bottom of the talk page by itself under a new, level 2 heading describing all of the requested changes in a "Change x to y using z" format. Otherwise it will not be known exactly what changes are requested when the template is activated at different various locations within the talk page. The COI editor is asked to replace all current requests under a level 2 heading at the bottom of the page along with a new {{request edit}} template.

Emi from Jaycar, I've done a quick tidy of the article, including removal of excessive detail about the "controversies" per WP:UNDUE, WP:CRIT, etc. I'll have a look at your additions above later/another day. The media release, unfortunately, is undated, so even adding "March 2021" is a bit of a stretch, so if you have another dated source, or obit, that would be better. I'm not sure how to use that link to the logo. It needs to be uploaded to Wikipedia or Wikimedia before it can be used in the article. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 05:37, 11 March 2021 (UTC)
