"Damaged/destroyed" section?[edit]

Considering how often it happens in pop culture, it might be useful to have a subsection of instances where the bridge is either damaged or destroyed. Thoughts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChrisMD123 (talkcontribs) 23:52, 21 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Removed conflict[edit]

I noticed a large portion of what was on the article was removed because most of it wasn't sourced. I would readd this information myself, but it would probably get removed again. So just in case, I'll just put the info regarding the Golden Gate Bridge in popular culture here.

Books[edit]

  • Amazing Grace, a novel by Danielle Steel, in which an earthquake destroys the bridge.
  • The Golden Gate, a novel by Alistair MacLean in which a kidnapping is staged on the bridge.
  • Bombs Away, an alternate history novel in the Hot War Series by Harry Turtledove where the Korean War escalates into World War III, the bridge collapsed into the San Francisco Bay when the Soviet Union dropped an atomic bomb on San Francisco on the morning of March 2, 1951. Over a year later in the novel Armistice, the remains of the collapsed bridge still blocked the bay, preventing water traffic from entering or exiting it.
  • Small Steps, a novel by Louis Sachar, in which the protagonist (Armpit) goes for a walk on the bridge with international pop star Kaira DeLeon.

Films[edit]

It has featured in the following movies:

Documentaries[edit]

It has been the subject of a 2006 documentary and a 2008-2010 documentary TV series:

  • The Bridge – a film about suicides from Golden Gate Bridge in 2004.
  • Life After People - A TV documentary series about what happens to the world if humanity suddenly disappears; the Golden Gate Bridge collapses after around 100 years due to corrosion in its support cables. After 200 years, only the towers remain intact.

Music[edit]

Television[edit]

It has also appeared in the opening credits (and/or episodes) in the following television series:

Video games[edit]

It has also appeared in the video games:

Other[edit]

  • KRON-TV, the former NBC/My Network TV affiliate used an animated version of the Golden Gate Bridge as their legal ID in the 1970s and 1980s.
  • NORAD Tracks Santa, the Golden Gate Bridge was a featured Santa Cam location for the 2002 tracking season.
  • A small-scale replica of the bridge was previously used at the main entry point of Disney's California Adventure Park in Anaheim, California. The replica was replaced in the early 2010s by a small-scale model of the Glendale-Hyperion Bridge as part of the entrance plaza's transformation into a re-creation of Los Angeles' Buena Vista Street

Anyone who feels strongly enough about it can add “I Am The Golden Gate Bridge”, the 2007 debut album by Belgian stoner rock band Creature With The Atom Brain. Mr Larrington (talk) 01:55, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
