Name[edit]
I don't think it's particularly necessary to have the clutter of his full given name, and a "also know as" and his normal day to day name. Question is, how to fix it? I'm thinking: putting his full name first, and day to day name in parenthesis after, or just use his full name and skip the day to day name. I vote for just his full name.
It just doesn't look quite right the way it currently is... XDisplacerx (talk) 14:07, 7 January 2022 (UTC)
- Full name alone seems right to me. I like to see "more commonly known as" when it isn't clear that the same person uses both names (Example: "Abadin Tadia Tjoessoep, more commonly known as Sheikh Yusuf or Sheik Joseph") but I think we all kvow that David and Dave are forms of the same name. 2600:1700:D0A0:21B0:5999:33F0:410C:E5C2 (talk) 15:40, 23 July 2022 (UTC)
What is Support.com and Xeriton?[edit]
The article says "In December 2009, Xeriton Corporation was sold to Support.com for $8.5 million.[18]". Does does not mention what either of those companies has to do with Dave Plummer. Seems completely disconnected. Is this an error? What is Xeriton ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.181.3.26 (talk • contribs) 07:56, August 9, 2023 (UTC)
- Xeriton began as SoftwareOnline and changed in named in the mid-2Ks. It was Plummer's software company that he owned and ultimately sold to Support.com (NASDAQ:SPRT) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.97.237.1 (talk) 18:33, 26 August 2023 (UTC)
- That appears to be incorrect. According to [1] Plummer became CEO of Xeriton in 2009. The settlement with the Washington State Attorney General’s Office was in 2006. I see no evidence that xeriton and softwareonline are related other than having the same CEO at different times. --Guy Macon Alternate Account (talk) 22:34, 27 October 2023 (UTC)
- Here is softwareonline's website in 2006.
- Here is Sammsoft's website in 2007. Note the same products (Registry Cleaner, MemTurbo, ClipTrakker, ArmorIE, etc). Also the same street address on their contact pages.
- And here is the SEC filing where Support.com bought Xeriton. Where it says Sammsoft is owned by Xeriton, and David W. Plummer and Nicole Plummer are the principal shareholders.
- Looking for better citable sources, but these aren't two separate companies that coincidentally had the same CEO. AlistairMcMillan (talk) 00:56, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
- Good find! If anyone reading this knows Dave Plummer, please ask him to come to this talk page (not to directly edit his own page!), give us a timeline of the ownership and aquisitions of these various companies, and point us to any sources he is aware of so we can write up an accurate and well-sourced description. --Guy Macon Alternate Account (talk) 17:17, 26 November 2023 (UTC)
Task Manager and "Microsoft computers"[edit]
The section on Task Manager includes "1996 shipments of Microsoft computers" -- what does this mean? Mattl (talk) 17:34, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

Dave Plummer “temporarily” made the Windows Format dialog, which stayed as-is for thirty years now;[1] yet this article does not seem to mention it, and I think it's notable enough to add to the lead section. 91.94.116.205 (talk) 09:12, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
