Assignment - WikiProj Assignment 5

Assignment Description

For this final assignment in the Wikipedia project, you should use the knowledge and skills you've gained about Wikipedia (everything from its principles, to how to edit an article and add citations), as well as the knowledge you've gained about your research topic, to contribute to at least one Wikipedia article.

To receive credit for this assignment, your contribution should be substantive, meaning you should add new, well-sourced information to an existing article. Your contribution to Wikipedia should amount to at least one paragraph. There are two options to accomplish this goal (choose one):

  1. Identify one Wikipedia article and contribute one small paragraph (3-5 sentences) with at least one citation for the information provided, OR
  2. Identify two to three Wikipedia articles and contribute at least one complete sentence to each article and with at least one citation for each article.

Assignment Process

Follow these steps to complete the assignment

  1. Complete the training modules in the Wikiedu.org website under WikiProj Assignment 5.
  2. Review the training modules related to editing wiki articles, in case you forgot some of the basics.
  3. Return to the articles you identified in WikiProj Assign 4. Note: you can identify one or a few new articles, if you are no longer interested in contributing to the articles identified in the last assignment.
  4. Follow the processes outlined in the training modules on Drafting in the sandbox and Moving work out of the sandbox.
  5. Edit one or a few Wikipedia articles following those guidelines. Note: you must provide at least two source citations in your contribution(s) to Wikipedia.
  6. Next, to show the changes you've made, you need to:
    1. Go to the View History tab for the article(s) (next to the View and Edit tabs near the top of the page)
    2. Then, click Compare Selected Revisions button (which should compare the edit you just made to the previous version of the page without your contribution). The page should look like this one: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User%3AIanjporter&type=revision&diff=802527078&oldid=802527034
    3. Cut and paste the URL to that Difference Between Revisions page (it should look like that URL pasted above) to this assignment's URL submission field.
    4. NOTE: if you have multiple edits, then use the Text Entry field to add multiple URLs.
