Welcome[edit]

Hello, Sandusky sweeper, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your edits to the page Bill Murray have not conformed to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and have been reverted. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media. Always remember to provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles.

There is a page about the verifiability policy that explains the policy in greater detail, and another that offers tips on the proper ways of citing sources. If you are stuck and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  tedder (talk) 19:33, 14 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Peter thiel headshot.jpg[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Peter thiel headshot.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:53, 27 August 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:53, 27 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:Peter thiel headshot.png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Peter thiel headshot.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Eeekster (talk) 23:19, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for File:Peter thiel.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Peter thiel.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:06, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. It seems that we already had a picture of Mr Thiel - I assume that File:Peter Thiel.jpg is him. Please remove it from that article if it is the wrong person. Angus McLellan (Talk) 21:40, 29 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Peter thiel headshot.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Peter thiel headshot.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MacMedtalkstalk 02:56, 17 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you have still not provided evidence of permission. A license tag is good, but we need evidence that the copyright holder (The Thiel Foundation) allows this licensing. Hekerui (talk) 15:03, 17 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback Hekerui. I do believe I have all the proper attribution however: (The Thiel Foundation, http://thielfoundation.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5&Itemid=10, {{CC BY-ND 3.0 | http://thielfoundation.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5&Itemid=10}})

Is there anything else I can provide? Since the file was previously deleted, it's not allowing me to re-upload it.

Hi Sandusky sweeper, the file was deleted by an administrator (I merely marked it) because Wikipedia doesn't accept non-derivative Creative Commons licenses. A short list of compatible Creative Commons licenses can be found at WP:Compatible license. If you upload an image that has an insufficient license, it requires further evidence in the OTRS form described in the notice above so it can be hosted with permission from the copyright holder under a license that is "free enough" for this project. Please check Wikipedia:Copyrights and WP:CFAQ or ask me for further info. Best regards Hekerui (talk) 08:09, 1 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
