No urgency?

Don't you remember that someone was arrested going through Turkish (I think it was, I can find the link if you need it) customs because of something in their Wikipedia BLP which was false? I don't know if Turkey is one of those countries that, like the US, sometimes uses "stressful" interrogation techniques, but I hope that someone doesn't find out the hard way because of a Wikipedia's failure to correct this problem. No urgency you say? Cla68 (talk) 04:42, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

There is no evidence in hand (there or elsewhere) of any issue which poses an emergency which justifies shortcutting community discussion and policy development.
The disdain for the community that the strenuous advocates are showing here is unseemly and inappropriate. If there exists an emergency it can be pointed to or articulated; none has been shown here. If there isn't an emergency then this is not how we do things here. If you try to push harder than the community as a whole will give, you break, not the community. The general point would have been advanced much more effectively by a gentler push. We now have several admins and a bureaucrat whose positions are potentially in question due to disregard for the community here. This was not good, not called for, not productive for them or the community or anyone else.
Slow down and deal with this within process, and all is fine. That's all I'm saying. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 04:49, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
It was a turkish dude going through US / Canadian customs, as I recall - fwiw... Privatemusings (talk) 07:18, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
Taner Akçam was detained by both US and Canadian customs folk in Montreal. Way to go wikipedia :-) - do you fancy working together on sourcing some unsourced biographies, george? - make a list below, and we can dive right in..... Privatemusings (talk) 10:33, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Scientific opinion on climate change

I have opened up a discussion about the current status of the article at Talk:Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change#Content_Fork. I don't expect much support at this stage, but I am concerned that criticism of the articles title and definition are not being taken seriously and need to be opened up to a wider range of editors capable of viewing this article from a broader perspective. With this in mind, I would be greatful if you contribute to the discussion. --Gavin Collins (talk|contribs) 16:07, 22 January 2010 (UTC)
