Speedy delete[edit]

I removed a speedy-delete tag from this page today. The tag said the article was "blatant advertising", which it is not. A tricam is a very important item of climbing equipment, which just happens to be made by only one firm. The article points out both the benefits and shortcomings of tricams and so could not be considered advertising, though admittedly it does contain a bit too much detail. Wikipedia's coverage of climbing equipment would not be complete without coverage of this important device. Rwxrwxrwx 10:01, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

History of Tricams & Abalak cams[edit]

History section of spring-loaded camming devices and other sources on history of SLCDs mention Abalakov's cams, which use a similar principle and look similar to tricams, although Lowe probably came up with the idea independently (and adopted a constant angle curve, it's not clear if Abalak's home made cams had this). Shouldn't it be mentioned here as well, as a more general protection device than a single product by a single company? Similar to how SLCDs are described generally, not as a single (first to market) product. "Abalak cams", as tricams are generally known in CE and EE countries, are manufactured by several European companies. While it's not entirely clear if there are any functional differences between the CAMP Tricam and Abalak cams from others, the functionality and principle seems very similar. An example of current "Abalak cam": Kouba. Please discuss. Technicality nitpicker (talk) 12:15, 7 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
