The name Shiseido
I'm not sure where the former poster got the idea Shiseido means "praise the virtues of the earth which nurtures new life and brings forth significant values". From a literal meaning, it only means "Life-Giving Hall", as in a company (hall) that produces a product that rejuvenates.
Source: a basic knowledge of Japanese characters.

- Dear @Hwfr: I did some research and the new holding company's website says the translation of Shiseido. The original Shiseido company website says the origin or meaning of the name is derived from a Chinese saying. I found a third-party source to say the meaning is derived from a phrase.
