Hi there! I'm a member of ProjectEquine and just noticed this article on list of speedy deletions. Appreciate the prompting and understand this is about keeping Wikipedia clean and orderly. I did some quick Google searching and found several references for this horse. I've built a pedigree chart (still needs work) and added some citations.

I left a friendly message for the team at the ProjectEquine talk page inviting them to check out this article - there are far more experienced editors there than me, so perhaps one of them may agree this should be deleted, or have ideas about content to provide. I just wanted to get in here quickly and try to add some RS information in hopes of shedding light on notability.

Had some trouble with the infobox for racehorse - I've only been here about a month :) I'm willing to dig around for more sources and flesh this out a bit, perhaps with some help from other project team members.

Oh, I found a couple of pages that link to this one; I'll see if I can find any others: Manna (horse) Sansovino (horse) Ok there was an existing reference to Sandwich at the St Leger Stakes which is in the winners table - I added a link to the stub article. Thanks Curdigirl. I saw your link on the St Leger article and have added some content with a ref to a written source. The horse which a British Classic winner, which is notable in horse racing and I would definitely contest the speedy on this. Bcp67 (talk) 12:51, 2 February 2017 (UTC)

I think he's notable enough for the St. Leger win. Here's something [1] I found on Google books. It might not be helpful, but most of the results are gor books that refee to people watching races while eating sandwiches. ..😉 That's always a problem when a horse's name is a common word. Thanks friends! I'm so new here, I wasn't sure that was "in my purview to do" in terms of removing the speedy deletion. I'm realizing there are carefully crafted layers of supervisory administration here and I'm eager to learn...but not to gum up the works :) Thanks for being patient with me. BTW Also thanks WAF, I too found a source that is paid on TIME: It appears to talk about Sandwich the horse, but I can't get to the content. Ongoing sources for building article

Sandwich is noted in this book 9780415326667 A History of Early Television Vol. 1 on page 344. There are some quotes from people remarking on how they were able to see Sandwich & Cameronian run the Derby; basically this is commentary on the early availability of television. I'm not sure whether this is trivia or not so I'm just recording it here -feel free to use it. If the article progresses, perhaps a natural place for this info might become apparent. Pedigrees

Edited the Pedigree section today and while searching for some sort of guidleine to keep conformity, multiple times stumpled upon Pedigreequery not being such a reliable source. Found two others, but did not really know wether there is a preferred version so I just left it. Maybe someone who is actually part of the Equine project wants to take a look? I tend to prefer Template:Pedigree as being easiest to use, but the one used here is OK. I'm not sure which source is the best. For a horse from that time it's probably going to be hard to find the pedigree from a very reliable source, because he wasn't particularly notable as a breeding stallion. https://www.equineline.com is the best RS for USA Thoroughbreds. But to be honest, it’s cumbersome. I usually use allbreed or pedigree query to flesh out the basics and then verify on Equineline and use Equineline as the citation. For UK horses, racingpost is a RS, or just ask Tigerboy1966 Montanabw^(talk) 10:00, 5 March 2017 (UTC)
