The definition should not be limited to boats or oil & gas decks. Any ear or tab of material (the "pad") that has a hole ("eye") for the purpose of attaching another item (rope, shackles, slings, etc) should be included in the definition. Padeyes are frequently installed for lifting any item, such as boxes, crates, tools and structures, with a crane. 66.249.100.228 (talk) 15:10, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Lug Plates?[edit]
Is "Lug Plate" another term for "Pad Eye"? This article makes no mention of the term until we reach the section on "Failure Modes", where it confusingly says that there are four potential failure modes for a lug plate. 2A00:23C8:AB05:BF01:941E:45DA:C437:90DD (talk) 00:04, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
