Merger Proposal[edit]
I believe the article on Pearl Haricot is redundant given that this article (Navy bean) already exists - if anyone wants to weight in on this please comment on the Pearl Haricot talk page Fyddlestix (talk) 03:40, 23 November 2014 (UTC)
- Update: Merger is complete Fyddlestix (talk) 16:33, 9 December 2014 (UTC)
Text and/or other creative content from Pearl_Haricot was copied or moved into Navy_bean. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists. |
Other Proposed Edits[edit]
for the line... Cannellini (or fazolia,[2]), a variety popular in central and southern Italy, but was first developed in Argentina.[2] They are larger than navy beans, related to the kidney bean and, like the kidney bean, has higher levels of the toxic lectin phytohaemagglutinin.[citation needed] They are used in minestrone soups.[2]
remove... and, like the kidney bean, has higher levels of the toxic lectin phytohaemagglutinin.[citation needed] --First, this is just a random tidbit on a similar bean --doesn't add anything to discussion of topic. Second, lectins are mostly neutralized through normal preparation of beans; also, lectins in small quantities may inhibit cancer in the GI tract --but, again, isn't this all beyond the scope of the topic? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.116.138.123 (talk) 15:07, 8 March 2018 (UTC)
Non-neutral article name =[edit]
Seriously? Nobody outside America calls these "Navy Beans". Why is the article so Ameri-centric? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.52.101.206 (talk) 22:04, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
- While it doesn't say that these beans come from the USA per se, the article does say that the bean is "native to the Americas"... Autokefal Dialytiker (talk) 16:37, 24 March 2022 (UTC)
