Merging Helenos into HelenOS[edit]

I propose Helenos, which seems to be an incorrect title, should be merged into HelenOS since they both cover the same subject. - Neparis (talk) 02:34, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Ideally the Helenos article will be dropped completely and the HelenOS article will prevail because it is actually kept up to date. As another suggestion, the article could be renamed to HelenOS (operating system) in order to make a clear distinction from the historical character Helenos of Troy. I was not aware of a historical character called "Helenos of Troy". There was Helen of Troy. There seems to be not much ambiguity in continuing to use HelenOS. I'm going to be bold and start merging. - Neparis (talk) 22:59, 5 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No really, there was a mythological character named Helenos and he lived in Troy. His brother was Hector and Paris. Helenos of Troy and Helen of Troy are

Reliable secondary sources[edit]

The {{primarysources}} tag was removed from this article for the second time in 24 hours with the summary "foreign language doesn't apriori disqualify source as reliable. See WP:RS". Well, no, it doesn't, however, that the source appears to be a random news site, and that it's in a foreign language, and that there is only one secondary source on this article does indicate that the article still needs more reliable secondary sources. I'm going to re-tag this if such sources cannot be found; I encourage User:Gopr to consider the purpose behind tagging articles in this way. Origin of the name[edit]

I removed the etymology section, because it was not correct. It claimed/implied that HelenOS is named after Helenos, son of Priam. This claim is not based on facts. I don't have an online reference, but Martin Decky, one of the project founders (i.e. primary source) said on a number of occasions that HelenOS is named after Helen of Troy. I think it could also be named after the Helenic period. But definitely not after Helenus. Jiri Svoboda (talk) 15:38, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
