The article should do a more thorough job in assessing the impact of fair trade certification on the well-being of the farmers and the farm workers. To be fully transparent, the article should point out that from the point of view of the retail store, fairtrade bananas are like any other product, and consequently, much of the price difference between fairtrade bananas and regular bananas goes to the retail store.
