DYK nomination of Chronic Tacos[edit]

Hello! Your submission of Chronic Tacos at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Thanks for your help. I think I have fixed the problem. Mythic Dawn Agent (talk) 23:46, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Can I ask what a 'third generation recipe' is ?! This may be a common description in the United States, but here in the UK and probably elsewhere, I think most people would be uncertain if this related to a concoction that had passed down from, say, grandmother to mother to daughter, or some other variant. If my original thought process is correct, how does this differ from any other long-held recipe process ? Does it make it better than a second generation recipe, but nothing like as viable/tasty as a fifteenth generation recipe ?
You are relatively new here, and I am being awfully unkind to question your creative efforts, which are good enough to create a 'DYK' article. I reckon that this is probably another cultural variation in language, but it is, in my view, not totally illuminating to a non-American reader. Put another way, does the belief that some-one's grandmother/father may have allegedly created this particular concoction give it a sort of magical, mythical, ethereal, quality, that is unmissable ? Or is it a widely held belief, hype, consensus, historical fact, or urban myth that it must be better?
Derek R Bullamore (talk) 00:27, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Derek, maybe you and I can work to find a link that might be appropriate for the recipe. In California, we have a larger Mexican community. So while we have fast food like Taco Bell, it's not considered very authentic because it is sort of an American version of what we find to be Mexican cuisine. Like you said, 3rd generation recipe would essentially be authentic, dating back to mid 20th century. I don't know how good a 15th generation recipe is, but it might be horrid considering what was used back then, lol. Can you look at the article and the source and see if we can reword it? It is widely believed that an older recipe, when it comes to ethnic foods, are better as they are more traditional. I'm Irish so one may think that my Grandmother's corned-beef and cabbage is better than my wife's - which comes from a cookbook =P Mythic Dawn Agent (talk) 05:33, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that. It is much more clear in my mind now, and perhaps the article needs a bit of your reply including in the text. We need to avoid original research though. Just one point reading the article again - who is Ryder (should that be Wyner) ? Equally can you explore the Bonilla family connection, to further explain the 'third generation' origin ? Would 'grandmother's old recipe' be a more clear description ? There may be an existing Wikipedia article more fully explaining the authentic cuisine concept. Unfortunately my expertise (for what is worth) is popular music not cookery, so I frankly would not know where to start. I really do have more questions than answers !
Derek R Bullamore (talk) 18:23, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

LOL. Ryder is my last name. Ugg. Your expertise on Wikipedia is good. Maybe you can edit the article, and make it better? Grandma's old recipe is perfect! Mythic Dawn Agent (talk) 08:17, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Chronic Tacos[edit]

The DYK project (nominate) 08:03, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Well done, and richly deserved. I will leave you alone now !
Derek R Bullamore (talk) 09:33, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Don't leave me alone! LOL. I have an idea for another article and need help. Mythic Dawn Agent (talk) 07:49, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
OK. You know where I am. Please remember I am just a humble sub-editor here, so no tricky questions !
Derek R Bullamore (talk) 08:49, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
First question - there is a movie called Mother's Little Helpers http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1198075/ But there is a redirect that goes to some drug - seems like a joke to me. Wanna help me write it? How do I replace the redirect without just redirecting it, lol. Mythic Dawn Agent (talk) 10:10, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The easiest and best thing to do is to title the potential new article as Mother's Little Helpers (film). You can then let Wiki administrators decide whether to rename this, without the 'film' adage, at some future date. That way you are safe from criticism, and others can make the decision and effect all changes needed (if any). I know nothing about films in general, and have never even heard of this one, so I will defer to you. If you require a critical eye once you have effected the draft version, then let me know. Regards,

Derek R Bullamore (talk) 10:36, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know much about the film either. I'll have to research it. My DYK got >5000 hits, but I don't know how to add it to the DYKSTATS page. Maybe you can help? Mythic Dawn Agent (talk) 00:09, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Visit the Wikipedia:DYKSTATS page, and I think the instructions are fairly straight forward. You (yes, yourself - there is no need to ask/wait for others to oblige) can simply include your own tally into the listings as shown. Frankly, despite over 25 DYK's of my own, none of mine have been eligible for this page, so you are moving into territory that I have not been able to tread ! Generally, do not worry about making a complete mess of it in such areas as this. Someone will quickly amend any indiscretion, or point the way for you. I normally find the simpliest way is to copy and paste someone's early efforts (that, ideally, closely mirror your own) back in, and simply insert your own details into that 'template', before saving. Most, if not all, genuine Wiki editors will help out a relative newcomer in these circumstances, particularly if they can see you are acting in good faith. If not, return to me. Alternatively, 'put the wind up them' (sorry - an English idiom) and inform whoever that you are 'best friends' with a Wiki administrator. Works every time ! Best wishes,
Derek R Bullamore (talk) 22:29, 13 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
LOL. I don't see any instructions - however that has never stopped me before. Let's see if I break it. Mythic Dawn Agent (talk) 04:40, 14 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Chronic Tacos, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DGG ( talk ) 06:19, 10 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Sophie Turner (model) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A BLP that lacks sources that discuss the subject directly and in detail. Does not meet WP:ENT and significant RS coverage not found.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
