Temporary blackout on Wednesday[edit]

Hi there. This note is just to let you know that on Wednesday, Wikipedia will be blacked out for at least a portion of the day in protest of the SOPA and PIPA bills in the United States. The location (global or US only) and the duration (no more than 24 hours) haven't been concretely decided on yet as far as I know, so it may not affect you at all. But if you're busy on Thursday and Friday morning and have any pages to read/articles to choose/edits to make before your class, you may want to get to them before Wednesday if you can! Here's an article from Reuters Canada on the matter; and the Wikipedia community's discussion is here if you're curious about why the blackout is happening. Intro[edit]

so far so good with Wikipedia. Thanks for the introduction. Owleye769 (talk) 19:48, 26 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Potential Articles[edit]

1. Biomedical Model, 2. Addiction, 3. Neglect

All of these articles need to be fattened up - including better definitions/descriptions, theories, and alternative models.

As we discussed briefly after class, addictions seems like an area where there will be some significant links with personality psychology, and thus may be the best to pursue for the class project. It will be fine for you to consider things beyond personality in improving the article too. As a next step, try to outline the kinds of changes/additions you think you will make. Also, check for similar topics to avoid overlap, e.g., there are more substantial pages on Behavioral addiction and Substance_dependence --Jayzzee (talk) 21:29, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Editing[edit]

Hi Dirkster07. Thanks again for agreeing to edit my article. Recently, a wikipedia user deleted about 40% of the content from my article which severely reduced the content pertaining to psychology. Also, an editor has made the content more technical and therefore maybe less relevant for a general Wikipedia readership. So, I have posted some "talk" on my article's talk page about possibly restoring the deletions and reversing some edits. So, please don't make any edits/corrections over the next few days - as the content may change substantially over the next few days(as I may reverse some of the edits). So, I don't want you to waste your time on drafts that might change. Hope this all makes sense. Owleye769 (talk) 21:03, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Dirkster: Thanks again for reviewing my article. I appreciated your changes. They helped to clarify and strengthen the article. Also, I hope to add a little more over the weekend. Maybe you could look at that too when you have a chance? I'll send you a message when I have that posted. Thanks again.Owleye769 (talk) 03:44, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your suggestions on the Affective Events Theory page. I will make the amendments as suggested before the end of the day. Again, much appreciated!15015OakBriar (talk) 17:00, 26 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Call for Carleton University's Campus Ambassador[edit]

Hello,

My name is Andrew. I'm the Regional Ambassador for the Canada Education Program. The goal of this program is to engage students and professors in using Wikipedia as a teaching tool. A professor from Carleton University, which you indicated your affiliation with the university through your userbox, is participating in the program for Fall 2012 semester. We're seeking campus ambassadors, which we currently don't have for Carleton University, who are available on-campus to help students. If you're interested (or have any other questions), please leave a message on my talk page. OhanaUnitedTalk page 04:56, 1 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
