Thank you for sharing your desire to use Wikipedia as a platform to educate people but although Wikipedia is supposed to compile human knowledge, it is not a vehicle to make personal opinions become part of such knowledge. You may take your concerns to Talk:Waterloo, Iowa to discuss with interested editors. This also may be appropriate since you are not familiar with the editing format and requirements on Wikipedia.
