My name is Eric Hart. I was born in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and moved to Rebuck, Pennsylvania in Washington Township when I was five. I currently live in Burlington, North Carolina. I am married to Natalie Taylor Hart, the scene design professor at Elon University.

I graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in Theatre. I also attended Ohio University for a time, working toward my Masters in Production Design and Technology. I spent several years as the Assistant Props Master at the Public Theater. I've spent several summers working as a props carpenter at the Santa Fe Opera, and a couple of winters building the Macy's and Saks Fifth Avenue Holiday Windows at Spaeth Design. I have also worked for the Walnut Street Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, and Hersheypark. I have been writing a blog about props since 2009.

I am the author of The Prop Building Guidebook: For Theatre, Film, and TV, published in February, 2013, by Focal Press. I have written several articles for Stage Directions Magazine. I am also a photographer. Several of my photos have appeared in JPG (magazine), and all of them can be found on Flickr.

On October 1, 2011, I was arrested along with 700 others on the Brooklyn Bridge as part of Occupy Wall Street.[1]
