  • "in order to" → "to" (less wordy)
  • Add WP:DATECOMMAS after "February 24, 1794", "January 17, 1796", and "June 1, 1796".
  • "A number of" → "Several" (less wordy)
  • Remove the comma after "homes in southeastern Tennessee".
  • Add a hyphen between "second highest".
  • Remove the comma after "a crucial state during the war".
  • "After Abraham Lincoln's election as president" → "After Abraham Lincoln was elected president"
  • "In an effort to pay off debts" → "To pay off debts"
  • "afterwards" → "afterward" (American English)
  • Remove the comma after "the largest electric utility in the country".
  • "abundancy" → "abundance"
  • Add "the" before "natural separation".
  • Remove the comma after "$1 billion".
  • "This area consists linear parallel ridges" → "This area consists of linear parallel ridges"
