Some suggestions[edit]

I will offer some suggestions, as requested by Made of Atoms at User Talk: Smokefoot.

Title - Tamman or Tammann? The article now says Tamman 6 times, Tammann 3 times, and Taumann once. However I think Tammann is correct since 2 of the 3 uses of Tammann are links to other articles with external references which mention Tammann.

Title - temperature or temperatures? If Tammann used one-half the melting point and Hüttig one-third, then they are 2 different temperatures.

History section - identifies Tammann and his contribution. Should do same for Hüttig. Dirac66 (talk) 02:28, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Equation in history section: Explain Tsolid. Also correct the equation so the units are consistent: The left side is a temperature (in degrees Kelvin usually), but the right side is a ratio of 2 temperatures so has no units.

Examples: Explain what "pre-calculated approximations" means here. Dirac66 (talk) 02:39, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

...The article now says Tamman 6 times Good eye. This definitely requires a fix. AXONOV (talk) 17:07, 11 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The discrepancy in spelling is real. The scientist's name definitely has the double n, but for whatever reason the scientific literature appears to consistently use the single-n spelling. The article referred to the wrong scientist (the grandson), I just fixed that. I'm not an expert, so cannot make many more edits myself confidently, but I think several other aspects of the article are flawed, including the "Cl2-" entries in the table. Also, there is no reference at all to Huettig and the origin of the lower temperature criterion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lushgardener (talkcontribs) 21:40, 10 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Article title and spelling of Tammann[edit]

I propose changing the preferred spelling to "Tammann", which is used about twice as often in publications as "Tamman", (and is satisfying because it's the dude's actual name), mentioning "Tamman" as an accepted alternative spelling, and changing the title to "Tammann and Hüttig temperatures", pending suggestions here. –MadeOfAtoms (talk) 01:16, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Google Scholar gives 2,350 results for "Tammann temperature" (1,380 in the last 10 years) and 1,250 for "Tamman temperature" (673 in the last 10 years). –MadeOfAtoms (talk) 21:01, 15 April 2023 (UTC
