Requested move 23 July 2019[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: not moved. A disambiguation page will be created, however. (closed by non-admin page mover) GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 23:07, 17 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sun Records (other companies)Sun Records (disambiguation) – This is effectively a disambiguation page for a number of companies named Sun Records, besides Sun Records of Memphis where Elvis Presley got his start and Sun Records (jazz) of Paris. Since there are two companies called Sun Records which have articles of their own, and there could be others in the future (see the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sun Records (other companies)), I believe a disambiguation page would be more appropriate than what is shown here. I proposed such a move in the AfD last month, but nobody expressed any opinion for or against such a move. -- Metropolitan90 (talk) 03:47, 23 July 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. Primefac (talk) 03:18, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • information Administrator note Article is not a DAB and close was done prematurely. I am reverting the move and relisting. Original NAC close listed below. Primefac (talk) 03:17, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: moved to Sun Records (disambiguation). Courtesy-pinging 78.26 so they can decide if they want to build articles for Leeds & Catlin, Toronto Canada, 1946 Jewish, and Albuquerque versions. (non-admin closure) CThomas3 (talk) 11:37, 4 August 2019 (UTC)

I have a comment and a proposal. First, an actual disambiguation page would look roughly like this:

Sun Records is an American record label founded by Sam Phillips in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1950. Sun Records may also refer to:

Moving this page to "Sun Records (disambiguation)" would gut the text content per rules governing disambiguation pages.

Since most of the text here at Sun Records (other companies) juxtaposes these other Sun labels with the Memphis label, if other users feel that the existence of a "Sun Records (other companies)" article is disconcerting or counter to policy, I would suggest merging the "other companies" article into Sun Records. Then an actual disambiguation page could be created with a line reading along the lines of:

Sun Records is an American record label founded by Sam Phillips in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1950. Sun Records may also refer to:
