Requested move 8 May 2018[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: Move Location → Location (disambiguation) and Location (geography) → Location; no consensus on the others. Cúchullain ^t/c 14:52, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

– The WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for “location” and “place” is the geographical concept of location, so Location should be the name of that article, and Place should be a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT to it. None of the other articles currently listed at Location or Place are candidates to be the primary topic.

“Site” is a little trickier, since the word is also widely known as a version of “website”. However, because that use of it is actually derived from the geographical meaning, I propose that Site should also be a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT to Location. (We already have Site (internet) as a redirect to Website.)

I think it’s clear that “location” is an encyclopedic subject that deserves an article, even though the one at Location (geography) is woefully inadequate at the present. Oppose all per WP:NOTDICT (Wikipedia is not a dictionary). "...It’s clear that 'location' is an encyclopedic subject that deserves an article" is unsupported and is crystalballish. Create the article and then propose a move. As of now, location (geography) is a DICDEF, and probably always will be one. Filming location (i.e., "on location") has more encyclopedic potential and Khalid's song has more encyclopedic notability.
