Lack of insight[edit]

I added an exterior cleaning company to highlight the variety of roles taken on by exterior cleaners www.fifewindowcleaningservices.co.uk and also for further reading

I also had added the British window cleaning association as a source of info re the multitude of roles an exterior cleaner takes on. Both edits removed? Chris Fotheringham (talk) 02:21, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Chris Fotheringham: I did not revert them so this is speculation but it appears to seem promotional. By adding an external link to a cleaning website you are promoting them. I suggest reading WP:PROMO. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:23, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I had read the guidelines and there is no personal gain, but there is now not a single ref on that page. The references were factual and looked pretty descriptive to me as well Chris Fotheringham (talk) 02:31, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Chris Fotheringham: I don't think you read WP:PROMO because it says this: " External links to commercial organizations are acceptable if they identify notable organizations which are the topic of the article." This would mean, for example, linking to WWF on the WWF webpage. This is a broad page, not focused on a specific organization. While we appreciate you trying to add refs, adding links to external websites isn't very helpful. Instead of trying to link people to external links for information, it would be more helpful to write (in your own words with 3rd party sources (see WP:RS) to this page.
