Draft:Elwood Engineering Company

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Elwood Engineering Company, based in Joliet Illinois, manufactured a 4X4 conversion kit for FORD tractors in the 1950's. This kit allowed the farmer to convert his two wheel drive FORD tractor to a four wheel drive machine. This gave the tractor all-terrain capabilities. This innovative idea was well before the modern four wheel drive, all terrain tractors were available. A competitor to Elwood Engineering Company was Northwestern Auto Parts Company, or NAPCO, which also made a four wheel drive conversion kit for the FORD tractors.
