Proposed deletion of NirCmd

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article NirCmd, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

No assertion of notability

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. free Norton upgrade

Shouldn't we mention on the free upgrades for Norton products. I stumbled upon this GENUINE Norton link: http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/support/special/upgrade2007/vista/migration_start.jsp?site=nuc --Tyw7‍ ‍‍ (TalkContributions) Leading Innovations >>> 18:30, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

I have already uploaded a new version. Can you do a cleanup of the image. There are some white edges remaining. I think the above information is significant since it can save the readers money instead of buying a new upgrade. On a side note can you please update the infobox of the Norton AntiVirus article. --Tyw7‍ ‍‍ (TalkContributions) Leading Innovations >>> 23:04, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
I'll be taking a look. TechOutsider (talk) 23:07, 13 March 2009 (UTC)TechOutsider
As for NAV, just fill the infobox with the same info found in NIS. TechOutsider (talk) 23:12, 13 March 2009 (UTC)TechOutsider
Yo. You need to scale the image down. It's too big and not web-res, per say. It still looks fuzzy when viewed at reduced res. TechOutsider (talk) 23:17, 13 March 2009 (UTC)TechOutsider
You do it. I don't know how to. --Tyw7‍ ‍‍ (TalkContributions) Leading Innovations >>> 23:19, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Can you take another sshot ... this time with the "default" theme please? TechOutsider (talk) 23:21, 13 March 2009 (UTC)TechOutsider

I have uploaded two version, one cropped using ms paint and one using Adobe Photoshop Elements. The two versions are clearly stated in the comments page. As with my other images, please do a clean up if needed. --Tyw7‍ ‍‍ (TalkContributions) Leading Innovations >>> 04:15, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey, TechOutsider. I noticed you've listed a few articles for AFD. Please follow the rest of the instructions on the appropriate article pages to begin the deletion discussion, you need to create the individual AFD pages.Spring12 (talk) 22:05, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Talk:Norton AntiVirus/Archive 2

I have nominated Talk:Norton AntiVirus/Archive 2, an article that you created, for deletion. Norton 360 Screenshot

Do you have a screenshot of the latest stable release of Norton 360. The one listed is of a pre-release software. I am sure that someone has a stable version 3. Please update the screenshot. As you may have noticed, I have Norton Internet Security. --Tyw7‍ ‍‍ (TalkContributions) Leading Innovations >>> 14:02, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

I might muster up the patience to install that junk Symantec is marketing. TechOutsider (talk) 23:37, 24 March 2009 (UTC)TechOutsider
Why is Norton 360 junk? I not making fun, I just want to know. Based on their advertising, I though that Norton 360 is the flagship product of Symantec, as with every renewal, they are nagging me to go 360, ditching the Norton Internet Security. Which is better in your opinion, Norton Internet Security or Norton 360 v3. --Tyw7‍ ‍‍ (TalkContributions) Leading Innovations >>> 23:46, 24 March 2009 (UTC)
N360 is just NIS's menus cut and paste all over the place. No innovation. And too many pop-up notifications; many which are simply useless. Just run Norton Insight, press "Refresh" and you get a popup. The interface feels clunky. I hate how each window now flashes when hovered over. NIS is ok, however I don't need a separate firewall. I use NAV. TechOutsider (talk) 23:34, 27 March 2009 (UTC)TechOutsider

Misabot

Instead of manually archiving articles, why don't you let Misza Bot do the job. Just see the top of my talk page for an example. You can change the interval and the folder. Just search for Misza bot (I don't know the correct spelling). --Tyw7‍ ‍‍ (TalkContributions) Leading Innovations >>> 23:48, 24 March 2009 (UTC)

I have already place an auto Miszabot command translusion (whatever you want to call it) on top of the Norton Internet Security. To auto achive use the following commands:

{{User:MiszaBot/config |maxarchivesize = 31K |counter = 1 |minthreadsleft = 0 |minthreadstoarchive = 1 |algo = old(30d) |archive = Talk:Norton_Internet_Security (name of article)/Archive %(counter)d }} --Tyw7‍ ‍‍ (TalkContributions) Leading Innovations >>> 12:02, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Just a quick request to ask you to use edit summaries more often, even if just fixing something, typing "fix" as an edit summary is more useful than none at all, I'm sure I don't need to give you the standard template, you have been here for long enough! Jenuk1985 | Talk 01:45, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Hmm I've been using edit summaries since a couple days ago. I've been very specific too; "fix wikilink "MP3" or something to that effect. Maybe I missed one or two...TechOutsider (talk) 01:48, 25 March 2009 (UTC)TechOutsider
Please don't take this the wrong way, as I'm only trying to help you (and other editors who wish to see at a glance what the edit is), if you look at your recent contributions, there are a lot of gaps where edit summaries should really have been provided. Also its worth noting that the default summary when editing a section (where it just lists the title of the section), is equally not useful, and should be expanded to say what you have done. It doesn't need to be wordy, a single word will do in many cases (e.g. for this, I will add to the end of the summary "reply"). Nobody is perfect, I understand that, I forget edit summaries too sometimes. Jenuk1985 | Talk 01:52, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

AfD nomination of Norton Insight

I have nominated Norton Insight, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Norton Insight. hey buddy

hey there Tech, how you doing? Glad you like the Gimp program. I took a look at what you've been up to lately, saw you're now doing a peer review on NIS so I dropped my thoughts on it. I downsized the graphic a tad on NIS lead too, if you prefer the bigger size, just revert - I'm not particular about it, just thought it made things look a little better. I see you're starting on Ghost too - cool. I might even drop a few edits in there as well later on. Your work is looking good my friend, glad you're doing so much here. Hope all is going well for you IRL as well. ;) — Ched ~ (yes?)/© 23:25, 28 March 2009 (UTC)

Hey long time no see! I'm fine. Loving Gimp. Thanks for downsizing the picture. It probably would have been downsized anyways; several users have complainedTechOutsider (talk) 12:16, 29 March 2009 (UTC)TechOutsider
RE: the GA. I'll need to look a little closer to be sure, but I'm wondering if you're trancluding category with projects. I think that once an article makes GA, the category really isn't an issue. I would think that NIS would fall under the Wikipedia:WikiProject Computing as far as assessment. Maybe here would be the place to ask?

My understanding is that category is basically just a file system to find articles of a similar nature. The project, sort of defines how the GA standards apply to an article that would fall under that particular group of articles. You couldn't really use the guidelines from a person WP:BLP for an article about software. The basics for GA would always apply. Is the lead well writen? Is the subject explained in enough detail? Is it stable, no edit wars? Are the resources and references good ones and are they used properly?. I'm sorry I haven't spent more time on the NIS article yet - I've been reading up on sock puppets and have a few other articles I'm researching - but I will look in more detail soon. Do you want me to just "edit" or put suggestions on the peer review page? Might want to get a few other opinions from peer review too, since I've edited the article before. And good to talk to you again too!! OK - I've gotta run for a bit, but I'll try to get some of the NIS stuff done before I hit the sack tonight. — Ched ~ (yes?)/© 23:02, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

You're busy. Suggestions would be great! TechOutsider (talk) 00:52, 30 March 2009 (UTC)TechOutsider
OK ... finally got back to the peer review. Did what I could, and added comments to peer review page Let me know when it's actually under the GAR so I can watch and maybe help. Looking good my friend ;) — Ched ~ (yes?)/© 08:41, 31 March 2009 (UTC)

MJ peer review

Hi Tech, you accidentally added comments to an old peer review, but you should remove that and place it here. That said, there is nothing wrong with you adding such comments to the regular talk page. Best. :) — R2 03:21, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
