Recreating the article[edit]

I believe that this article needs to be recreated, & I would like it to be a joint effort with people who are familiar with Ecosexuality. I am an experienced editor, aproaching 16,000 edits on English Wikipedia, which currently puts me in the top 5,000 English Wikipedia editors. Thus, I know enough about the process to help folks at an edit-a-thon.

Preparation[edit]

In preparation for the edit-a-thon, I recommend the following:

  • Before the edit-a-thon, register & set your preferences:

Pertinent Wikipedia guidelines & policies, plus an essay[edit]

At your leisure please have a gander at the following Wikipedia guidelines & policies, in order of importance:

From two previous versions[edit]

Why it was deleted[edit]

Unfortunately, I do not have the talk page discussions or edit summaries, but apparently there were complaints about the inclusion of copyrighted text, self-promotion, & conflicts of interest. However, the article was tagged with the following complaints:

  • This article may be in need of reorganization to comply with Wikipedia's layout guidelines. (June 2015)
  • This article may document a neologism in such a manner as to promote it. (August 2016)
  • This article contains content that is written like an advertisement. (August 2016)

The deleting administrator posted a notice of speedy deletion, then ignored my contesting of that & deleted it anyway. When I asked for detail as to why, the admin cited the Wikipedia:Blow it up and start over essay, which represents an opinion, not a policy or guideline. Nevertheless, we are up against some attitude here.

What we need to do[edit]

  • Write a lead section with the clearest definition & explanation of what Ecosexuality is.
  • Find a non-copyrighted (public domain) version of the Ecosexuality manifesto, or be prepared to write the gist of it in our own words, without closely paraphrasing it
  • Include at least ten secondary (preferable) or tertiary sources. Some can be found in the References section of the old version, but there are also many primary sources there that should be instead relegated to a Further reading or External links sections, as per guidelines.
  • Bring your ideas, thoughts, & words! We need to make this more than just a stub article.

I look forward to editing with you! Peaceray (talk) 07:10, 30 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Possible sources[edit]

  • Google Scholar search; note that more citations tend to denote a more respected source, although newer sources will obviously not be as well cited.
