AfD nomination of Oak Avenue Intermediate School[edit]

An editor has nominated Oak Avenue Intermediate School, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oak Avenue Intermediate School and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:59, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just as an arbitrary note, the article was overwhelmingly voted to be saved. — Poe Joe 01:04, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oak Avenue School[edit]

Do NOT post bell schedules on a school page on wikipedia. Bell schedules do not belong here. If you continue to re-add it, after being warned, consequences will follow. You said something along the lines of do not delete other's hard work, well, this is not your article. No one "owns" any article on wikipedia. The bell schedule will stay OFF of the page. Undeath (talk) 06:06, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for posting the bell schedules, but you really need not be so offended. Aggressiveness and mockery will only provoke anger and hurt your objective of pointing out WP:NOT. Again, sorry. — Poe Joe 01:37, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The caps were not to put anger into the words, but rather to put emphasis on a point. Undeath (talk) 05:50, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain what possible encyclopedic interest and notability there is in the bell schedule? DoubleBlue (Talk) 00:20, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You may want to take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Schools#Structure for some school article specific guidelines Dbiel (Talk) 00:36, 24 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for bringing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Oak Avenue Intermediate School to my attention. I see that we have weathered the attack. The key problem was the missing notability references of which I did add two, which seems to have helped. Dbiel (Talk) 06:14, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please Delete[edit]

Both done. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 06:45, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SP[edit]

I haven´t forgotten (though I will probably have to remind them) but don´t expect it soon. I´ve seen the schedule, nothing your way anytime soon.--Wehwalt (talk) 07:28, 11 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Incidently, if you watch their latest vlog, I'm visible by the window and then sitting down while Pierre is talking! --Wehwalt (talk) 18:37, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Lol, that's so cool! You're the one with the pass(?) clipped on to the belt? — Poe Joe 22:37, 14 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that was me. Would you be willing to attend a radio station sponsored sort of show, at which they will likely play a half hour? --Wehwalt (talk) 03:16, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it isnt' a radio station sponsor. I have no idea. But here it is:

Regarding Reset, I really have no idea outside the "public record". My discussions of Reset with them have been very limited.--Wehwalt (talk) 14:59, 25 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I have my first solo featured article candidate at FAC, Jena Six. I'd be grateful if you could find a few minutes to look at it, and if you see any problems, let me know, and if you are minded to (on the FAC page), indicate your support.--Wehwalt (talk) 02:50, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi![edit]

I've seen that you also edit pages that have to do with Temple City, like Oak Avenue Intermediate School and Temple City High School, and I have to say you did an AWESOME job with it! And yes, Wikipedia is really cool and VERY addicting. Thanks for your contributions too =)♥, calliegal_x (talk) 02:50, 15 April 2008 (UTC)Calliegal[reply]

Photo[edit]

Probably more accurate to say "misplaced" rather than "misleading" since indeed it was under the wrong CD. I don't have any photos from the NPNHJB era, I'm afraid. Be interesting to put one up if we could find a free image, since most of them had very different hairstyles then (see Punk Rock Holocaust). Hope you had a good time.--Wehwalt (talk) 15:57, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, David in particular (and less so with Sebastien) are like chameleons! Bad word choice I agree. And I had a great time. -- Poe Joe (formerly Ian Lee) (Talk) 17:21, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, next time they do LA, I think you are likely to get a better view. God knows when that will be then.--Wehwalt (talk) 18:31, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar[edit]

Thank-you very much Poe Joe for the Barnstar you awarded me for my work with the Simple Plan article. I, too, am quite a Simple Plan fanatic as well, so it all worked out. I've been an active user on Wikipedia for two years now and this is my first barnstar so I've very glad about recieving it. Again, Thank-you! --1bevingtonco (talk) 14:07, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course I'm interested. I'll be glad to be a part of the SP community here in Wikipedia and continue my contributions towards SP-related material. Thanks, 1bevingtonco (talk) 14:26, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anime[edit]

Must have overlooked the source, but caught it on the album edit. Ordinarily I'd delete due to no rs, it is clearly a blog, but the photographs I think overcome that. It's clearly for real.--Wehwalt (talk) 04:11, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SP/Emo discussion[edit]

Do you want to weigh in? If you don't that is fine. Typically they get discouraged or else bored and go away after a while.--Wehwalt (talk) 03:32, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Temple City High School[edit]

Regarding you recent edit to Temple City High School, what is missing is any reference to the fact being posted. As it stands now, it is orignal research and will probably be deleted as such. For the time being, I will simple add the fact flag to the edit. Hope you can find a reference to support it. Dbiel (Talk) 19:06, 23 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find a direct source saying so. This gets pretty close, but says nothing directly. You may delete my contribution if you like; however, the new CIF Division III record is somewhat notable. Do what you must, but I affirm the notability. -- Poe Joe (talk) 20:58, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Simple Plan COIN[edit]

It looks like the discussion I was involved in at WP:COIN is more or less closed at this point. I'm sorry if any of my accusations sounded like they were targeted at you, I didn't mean for them to be, but after re-reading some of them I see where they could come across that way. I might not agree with some of your stances on wikipedia, but I have nothing against you personally, and I really am sorry if I offended you with any of my comments. Generation and ICWF articles[edit]

I've nominated for deletion the articles on Generation and I Can Wait Forever. This is because the guy who (at least unbeknownst to me) created the articles claimed that they were upcoming singles. Per WP:MUSIC, if they are not singles or covered in the media, they got to go. They might survive based on the goal song in one case, and the anime in the other but they probably shouldn't.--Wehwalt (talk) 10:03, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback[edit]

Hey, I notice that much of your work on WP (though I know you are busy with school and all that) is reverting vandalism. The rollback feature may be of use to you. Why don't you take a look at WP:ROLLBACK and associated pages and see if it would be useful. If so, I have no problem with enabling it for you.--Wehwalt (talk) 20:52, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That would be great! I would love the rollback feature. Thanks! -- Poe Joe (talk) 15:55, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I'll enable it. First action as an admin. Also, you might want to check out this note left by Kww at my talk page regarding the people who persist on leaving "information" on the "fourth single" on the SP articles. As if, I'm afraid.--Wehwalt (talk) 23:47, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the table adjustments. I stole the table from you to begin with ... --Wehwalt (talk) 03:11, 16 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

please be aware[edit]

Another one. It's actually been around since October. At this point, I sincerely doubt there will be a fourth single, though I don't know anything, couldn't say if I did know, yadda yadda yadda.[1]--Wehwalt (talk) 19:43, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Got your email, my reply bounced for some reason. Good you have your priorities straight! Thanks for whatever help you can give, but no big deal if you can't. Will keep you updated with any news I hear that I can repeat.--Wehwalt (talk) 07:29, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Saw your comments. Nothing has helped yet. I could semiprotect again, but that's only going to cut down on the workload, not eliminate it. Sigh.--Wehwalt (talk) 05:26, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to my talk page[edit]

Hey, I just have to ask about your edit to my talk page. Just humor I hope? 2help (message me) 15:51, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thoughts[edit]

Admittedly, any attempt to get the SP article towards FA or GA probably won't get very far, but what about one of the CDs? What about Simple Plan (album)? There might be enough stuff out there? We could follow the format of one of the album articles that have gone FA, such as Pinkerton (album). I've got projects out the kazoo, and I'm sure you are gearing up for school, but it is not something we have to hurry about. Just start by not letting the article disintegrate, and then start adding sources. It's possible I could get some off wiki help, but I'm not sure if I want to go there.--Wehwalt (talk) 12:21, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Talk:Simple Plan[edit]

Did you say "teh"? "TEH"? Seriously? Besides, there are reliable sources - especially according to this article. Take a look. Go on. --LordNecronus (talk) 20:26, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

See the discussions on the article talk page on WP:UNDUE. We arrived at a compromise and I see no reason to upset it. And people make mistakes in typing all the time. Incidentally, it is best to have this discussion on the article talk page as well.--Wehwalt (talk) 21:10, 27 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Research into the user pages of Wikipedians: Invitation to participate[edit]

Greetings,

My name is John-Paul and I am a student with the University of Alberta specializing in Communications and Technology.

I would like to include your Wikipedia user page in a study I am doing about how people present themselves online. I am interested in whether people see themselves in different ways, online and offline. One of the things I am looking at is how contributors to Wikipedia present themselves to each other through their user pages. Would you consider letting me include your user page in my study?

With your consent, I will read and analyze your user page, and ask you five short questions about it that will take about ten to fifteen minutes to answer. I am looking at about twenty user pages belonging to twenty different people. I will be looking at all user pages together, looking for common threads in the way people introduce themselves to other Wikipedians.

I hope that my research will help answer questions about how people collaborate, work together, and share knowledge. If you are open to participating in this study, please reply to this message, on your User Talk page or on mine. I will provide you with a complete description of my research, which you can use to decide if you want to participate.

Thank-you,

John-Paul Mcvea
