Copyvio[edit]

This article is a repost of copyrighted material at this page. I have notified the author, User:Ten-of-Nine, and will wait as the article suggests there is permission to use. I have pointed the author towards Wikipedia policy regarding permission. Ifnord 02:03, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

In truth I did request formal confirmation from the Executive Director. She passed the issue to their web site manager who never responded. I posted the info in good faith and retained the copywrite info pending what should have been an easy reply. At this point, I am starting to feel as if wikipedian admins are suddenly ganging up on my contributions. Yes I see the point of protecting copywrites, but I wonder where the line is drawn between ownership of historical information and public knowledge.
Please give me some time to confirm permission OR to rewite/shorten/paraphrase the article. I assume I can provide links to IMSA's web site for the detailed info. IMSA, along with ITE are the two main organizations contributing input to the Federal Highway Administration in revising and developing highway standards. It would be a true shame to have the wikipedia article deleted without giving some time and assistance to fix the problems. Somebody who is more experienced than I in wiki legalese might be able to make sugestions on how I can please everyone... --Steve 02:48, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's been a couple of days. I'm going to tag the page as a copyvio. The tag has instructions on how to continue to edit +/- build the article on a temporary page. Basically the page has to be rewritten, one can't simply lift an entire page from a website. If permission is given from the original creator, it must be under the GNU Free Documentation License - which means no attribution (as currently on the page) and the right to freely modify (which is barred on the current page). That's fine as long as we can have the time to sort this out. I started roughing the temp page tonight but it is nothing to look at right now. I've mostly been searching links to attempt to establish notability. Not many on the web that are suitable. May have to go pound the Library and come up with book refs. This whole notability issue may have started with good intentions, but it appears most Admins are too fussy about Requiring it. From browsing the discussion/vote lists, it seems a lot of valid pages are being trashed because the voters are being too tight with the rules vs the spirit of the rules. I'm surprised the article "God" hasn't been deleted as nn, since nobody can prove there is a God w/o faith only. <grin> Anyway, I appreciate the help. --Steve 02:14, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
IMSA and ITE are not the only organizations contributing MUTCD content. AASHTO, APWA, and many other organizations are equally involved. See new discussion below. RCMoeur (talk) 22:02, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Revised page content[edit]

A WikiCookie reward has been left on your plate for good natured assistance to a frustrated and confused editor. MANY Thanks to User:Kcordina and User:Ifnord for assistance in sorting out difficulties with the previous temporary content of this article and helping restore the article with approvable content.
Again THANKS! --Steve 18:12, 22 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Imsalogo.gif[edit]

Image:Imsalogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

MUTCD Contributions[edit]

IMSA is a contributor to the MUTCD through the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (NCUTCD), but there are 21 organizations that hold equal standing in contributing MUTCD content, not two, as seen at the NCUTCD page listing sponsoring organizations. It might be best to rewrite the initial paragraph to describe IMSA itself, then later mention its role in MUTCD development, as the scope of IMSA is much larger than that one task. If I have time later, I'll see what I can do. RCMoeur (talk) 21:58, 2 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
