What is the difference?[edit]

Thumb Thumb.
The dimensions are identical. What is really the difference or is one of the two "spurious"? Peter Horn User talk 01:45, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Big deal. The difference is between {{cvt|15|ft|2+7/8|in|mm|2}} and {{cvt|15|ft|3|in|mm|2}} all of {{cvt|1/8|in|mm|2}}
15 ft 2+78 in (4,645.02 mm) and 15 ft 3 in (4,648.20 mm) all of 18 in (3.18 mm) This comes from AAR "plate" loading gauge diagrams compared to UIC (pdf & Autocad). This is very odd. Peter Horn User talk 22:47, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There are also 2+34 in (69.85 mm) & 2+12 in (63.50 mm), a big difference of 14 in (6.35 mm) Peter Horn User talk 02:15, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Voidxor: There may be no such thing as a Plate-D, in which case the dimensu=ions of Plate-E are identical to those of Plate-D. Peter Horn User talk 22:50, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure why you're pinging me. Both of these files actually reside at Wikimedia Commons. Perhaps you mean to ping the uploader there? As you know, he's currently blocked on the English Wikipedia. – voidxor 23:11, 16 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Voidxor: I pinged you here because you made a comment at Talk:Boxcar#Personal web sites about AAR "plate" loading gauge diagrams compared to UIC (pdf & Autocad) According to this Plate-D does not exist. Both files were down loaded by User:Emdx himself from his own website. We need him to clarify this. Peter Horn User talk 01:50, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you need him to clarify, not me. He's blocked on the English Wikipedia, but those images are actually coming over from Commons anyway (hence the little Commons logo in the upper right corner of the file pages). So, the place to ask would be his talk page at Commons. – voidxor 16:44, 17 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Click on the second pdf ["AAR Open Top Loading Rules Manual, Section 1, Appendix A, Preload Inspection Checklist and Equipment Plate Diagrams" (PDF). Association of American Railroads. @Voidxor: I tried to contact Marc Dufour on his talk page at Commons and on his email. No answer at all. I don't like to stereotype anyone but it appears that Marc does not like to be challenged. Peter Horn User talk 01:29, 6 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was not able to do anything on Wikipedia as my IP address was blocked and I was unable to do anything about it, thanks to some admin’s obtuseness.
I just realized the issue was resolved account my IP address being changed to an unblocked block. So here I am, unblocked.
As of the AAR plates modifications, feel free to update them, I do not currently have the means to do so. Emdx (talk) 22:33, 9 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dimensional errors[edit]

@Voidxor: Apart from the fact that plate D does not exist, there are dimensional errors on both Plate D and Plate E Apendix A AAR "plate" loading gauge diagrams compared to UIC (pdf & Autocad) If I would still have the AutoCAD I would make the correction on Plate E myself. Peter Horn User talk 20:13, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Peter Horn: Quit pinging me. I had nothing to do with the drawings or numbers shown here. See above where I already asked you to stop, and tried directing you to the right place. — voidxor 22:23, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
At least one dimensional error on Plate E according to this the 2+12 inches on plate E should be 2+34 inches. Peter Horn User talk
