Underwriter (American Tug, 1881)

Photographed prior to World War I, probably in the vicinity of New Orleans, Louisiana. Built in 1881 and rebuilt in 1903, this tug became USS Underwriter (ID # 1390) in mid-1918. She was redesignated YT-44 on 1 July 1920 and renamed Adirondack later in that year.
