Summary

Description
English: Photograph of the USS Thresher (SS-200) in October 1943. Following her ninth patrol, the submarine was refitted in the summer of 1943 at Mare Island in California. The submarine had been modified substantially since her launching in 1940, as had other Tambor-class submarines launched before the United States entered World War II. The configuration in the photograph has been labeled the Mod 3 version of this submarine class.
