Summary

Description
English: The Errington Arms at Stagshaw, near to Halton, Northumberland, Great Britain. On a Roman route north towards High Rochester and Scotland, this is the site of the Roman Portgate, a gate in Hadrian's Wall that had to be made to accommodate the existing route northwards. In medieval times the road became known as Dere Street. The remains of the gate lie between the Errington Arms and the roundabout on the edge of which this photograph was taken.
