This shot looks north towards Hoffman Cemetery. That is where the present grave of the four victims of the Spafford Creek Massacre were buried in 1898. The original mass grave where they were buried June 15, 1832 lies south and west of here within a few rods of the Pecatonica River and within the cornfield where they were shot down.
