DescriptionSouthampton Western Docks - geograph.org.uk - 1191331.jpg
English: Southampton Western Docks I believe the big white ship is P & O's Arcadia. Originally conceived for Sitmar, then passed to Princess and was having a spell as a P & O vessel. I believe she became Ocean Village. Sitmar were happy with steam turbines and had the last cruise liner built with this propulsion system. Arcadia nearly had turbines but was built with a diesel electric power station system (I'm sure the bean counters were mighty relieved about that). Philip Dawson's book on Cruise Ships touches on this story.
