Scherger_-_Fighter_Squadron_RAAF.jpg(500 × 257 pixels, file size: 123 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)

Description Flight Lieutenant F.R.W. Scherger refuels his Bulldog (A 12-1) at Nhill (Vic) on 15 October 1931, on his way to South Australia for the Aero Club pageant. A gale was blowing when he landed at Nhill, causing him to stand the machine on its nose—though with no more damage than slight bending of the right lower wingtip and engine bearer plate. Scherger completed the flight to Adelaide, won the aerial derby (against another Bulldog) with a speed of 160.98 mph, and returned to Point Cook without any further trouble.
