Description
El modo en el que Borrassà realizó la composición, con el ídolo dorado situado en el centro y elevado sobre una compleja estructura, le permitió distribuir a ambos lados a los dos grupos que aparecen en la escena, evitando así la sensación de ahogo espacial. A la izquierda dispuso al procónsul Agen sobre un alto trono y otras dos figuras masculinas representadas a sus pies, mientras que a la derecha situó a San Andrés Apóstol y al grupo de soldados y sayones que le conducen prisionero ante el procónsul. Esta obra, al estar realizada en su totalidad por Luis Borrassà, muestra algunos de los rasgos más característicos del artista: los tipos humanos traducidos con sus gestos y actitudes vivaces, las arquitecturas y pavimentos que se repiten en otras obras de su mano, y el rico colorido presente en sus composiciones, notas todas ellas que ponen de manifiesto que esta obra corresponde a los primeros años del siglo XV, un momento en el que Borrassà mostraba un dominio del lenguaje del Gótico Internacional que le hizo destacar sobre otros pintores coetáneos (Texto extractado de Silva, P.: Donación Várez Fisa, Museo Nacional del Prado, 2013, p. 24).
