Notes Secondo la Langedijk (1981-1987, II, pp. 966-967), il dipinto potrebbe ess ere una copia di un perduto ritratto di Gian Gastone già di proprietà dell a sorella Anna Maria Luisa Elettrice Palatina e citato in un documento del la Guardaroba: "Un quadro in tela dipintovi de mezza figura al naturale il Ser.mo G:D:Gio. Gastone armato di ferro con manto sopra, e bastone, mano di Ferd.o Ritter (sic) con adornamento intagliato e dorato" (ASF, Misc. Me dicea 991, inserto III, c. 45; inserto I, c. 73v).
